Water Footprinting

Water Footprinting is a vital step in building a sustainable business plan

Despite water being a fundamental part of a business’ operation, whether for basic employee use, processing and manufacturing or for providing a customer service it is often not accurately measured.

Waterscan can quantify your company’s operational and supply chain water footprint in order to reduce water consumption and create a more sustainable supply chain. This can be done by analysing water scarcity and through innovative water footprinting accounting.

A threat of water shortage can severely hinder the success and growth of your company and currently there is a very real danger of water scarcity in many parts of the world due to unpredictable rainfall patterns and human consumption of water exceeding the rate at which it is available. In order to reduce the volume of water being consumed by your business, it is essential to determine how much is being used, where and when. This is known as ‘Water Footprinting’.

Your Water Footprint is the volume of freshwater consumed by your business through both the direct operations of your business and through the supply chain. In order to protect your business, water risks in the entire production process of your products and services need to be identified.

It is anticipated that future legislation will make Water Footprint reporting a mandatory requirement: Waterscan already have the tools, skillset and expertise to ensure you are prepared for this eventuality.
